Permeable Driveway

Permeable Driveway

The permeable driveway is made from a resin grid product with cavities that we filled with dolomite rocks, which has minimal solar absorption, and therefore reducing the temperature near the front of the house.

In addition, the dolomite rocks allows rain drainage to below the surface, reducing the amount of water run-off to the storm drain system.  This system was chosen in order to satisfy Town of Markham’s requirement of reducing the water run-off after the rainstorms and subsequent floods in the summer of 2005.

Over time, as the surface sinks, the grids can be easily pulled up to level, and dolomite rocks refilled, in order to level the surface of the driveway.
